Berlin 2.0

9th of August 2019

Learning from my mistakes on the previous day (walking), I decided to explore the city by bike. This was a great decision and I absolutely loved riding with the hipster cafés and bars to my right, the Berlin tram on my left and the Berlin tower appearing infront of me, like a northern star.

My first stop – Musea Island.

In my opinion definitely one of the most beautiful parts of Berlin and also 50% of my bucket list. I did not pay for any museum, but was gazing at the numerous ostentatious buildings on the island instead.

One of them was the Berlin Dome and after bargaining my student discount I convinced myself that 5€ should be worth it.

And I was not disappointed. The dome was impressively beautiful and incredibly huge as well. You could even go up the ceiling which provided an amazing view over the capital and when I descended down again there was even a test of the organ, which I saw as a free an opportunity for a free concert.

Hearing this powerful instrument in this mighty building, was a very special – almost spiritual – experience.

Afterwards I went back to the Hostel and skyped with Mirte on the other side of the world before working out in a park next to the hostel. At first I was a bit conscious if people would look at me strange but then I realized that people in Berlin are probably used to crazier things than a guy working out in a park and proceeded with my exercises (I still got some weird looks though).

After my working out session I actually wanted to go to the Tiergarten and cross the other point of my list, but by now it was already quite late and I got into a good conversation with my roomates Lior from Australia and Alex from Sweden.

So instead of the Tiergarten we went to one of the many diners in the area and out for drinks afterwards. I got the first Berliner Weisse (Waldmeister) – for those who don´t know. It is basically cider from Berlin –  of my life and really enjoyed my last evening in Berlin.

Eventually I just managed to see 50% of my travel goals. But I had an amazing time in the Hipster hub of germany. The Tiergarten will have to wait for next time, but I am looking forward to come back to Germanys coolest city.
